Program’s Mission

A distinguished English program that develops autonomous, reflective, and professionally competent graduates through outcome-based education and competency-based learning, within a constructivist and communicative framework that impacts research and contributes to the ​


Educational Objectives



    1. Define and achieve specific, measurable learning outcomes in linguistics, literature, and translation. 
    2. Develop communicative competence through authentic tasks aligned with predefined performance standards.
    3. Enhance professional readiness by ensuring graduates demonstrate job-relevant competencies upon completion.
    4. Foster learner autonomy and reflection through outcome-aligned research and independent study.
    5. Cultivate ethics, intercultural awareness, teamwork and commitment to community as assessable outcomes.
    6. Support faculty growth in designing and assessing outcome-aligned instruction.

Learning Outcomes

    Knowledge and Understanding:
    K1: State the basics of the knowledge required in the university and college level outcomes.
    K2: Describe the varied aspects of English in its native culture.
    K3: Recognize the basics and concepts of linguistic studies.
    K4: Illustrate the historical development and features of English and world literature.
    K5: Identify the rules and procedures of translating various types of texts.
    K6: Point out the nature and mechanisms of conducting research in various academic fields.

    Skills:
    S1: Demonstrate the thinking, learning, and communication skills required of their domain and the university and college level outcomes.
    S2: Analyze phonetic, morphological, syntactic, and semantic data.
    S3: Interpret and evaluate specific pieces of various literary works.
    S4: Translate various types of texts (Arabic to English and vice versa).
    S5: Conduct research in their majors/specializations.
