Deanship of Scientific Research at the University of Bisha announces to continue receiving proposals for WA’AED 2023 until Tuesday, 12 September 2023.

Waed Program Introduction: Scientific research is one of the fundamental pillars of universities, playing a crucial role in achieving their educational and research objectives. Recognizing the importance of research in solving societal problems and providing future insights to meet community needs, the University of Bisha has taken significant steps to facilitate research activities for its faculty and students. To achieve this, the Deanship of Scientific Research at the University of Bisha aims to support researchers by providing them with the necessary skills through various research initiatives and funded projects. These initiatives offer researchers the opportunity to conduct their studies based on sound scientific principles. In alignment with the university’s strategic objectives to build a competitive knowledge society through a modern educational and research environment, and with a commitment to addressing societal challenges through scientific research, the Deanship of Scientific Research has launched the "Waed" Program to attract newly appointed faculty members to the university’s research ecosystem. Program Description: The Waed Program, initiated by the University of Bisha, is designed to support researchers and enhance their skills. It is implemented by the Deanship of Scientific Research and targets faculty members who have been appointed as Assistant Professors at the university for no more than three years. The program aims to train and attract researchers to a distinguished research environment, aligning with the university’s research priorities derived from the needs and characteristics of the local community. Additionally, it seeks to support research projects, leading to outstanding scientific innovations and research outputs. Program Vision: To establish the University of Bisha as a beacon for advanced research opportunities, developing outstanding researchers and enabling them to compete locally and internationally with high-impact research outputs. Program Mission: To prepare a promising generation of researchers equipped with scientific research skills, capable of innovating and executing competitive research projects on a global scale. Program Objectives: Develop a distinguished generation of researchers contributing to the university’s strategic plan and the Deanship of Scientific Research’s plan in alignment with Saudi Vision 2030. Enhance scientific research skills among newly appointed faculty members. Promote a culture of research and innovation while fostering a positive attitude toward them. Provide an attractive research environment for faculty members, helping them meet their research interests in line with the university’s research priorities. Equip new faculty members with research and international publishing skills through participation in global research activities and publishing in high-impact journals. Program Outcomes: Highly qualified researchers in scientific research. Research-supportive infrastructure and facilities. Scientific publications in high-impact journals. Program Requirements: The principal investigator must be a faculty member at the University of Bisha. The faculty member must have held the rank of Assistant Professor at the university for no more than three years. Each researcher may submit only one research proposal as a principal investigator. A researcher may participate in up to two projects as a co-investigator. Each research proposal must include a minimum of three (3) researchers. In cases of external collaboration with regional or international research teams, the partner institutions must be globally recognized and ranked universities. Researchers must publish their work in journals indexed in Web of Science (ISI) or Scopus. The principal investigator must be listed as one of the authors in all publications resulting from the research project. The researcher must submit a list of required equipment needed for their laboratory or research unit. The researcher must indicate their affiliation exclusively as "University of Bisha" in all published papers. Researchers who have not completed the closure process of their previous funded projects—including submission of final financial and technical reports—are not eligible to apply for the announced research program.
