About the department
Department of Islamic Studies is one of the important departments that meets the needs of the society in terms of preachers and educators who are able to correct misconceptions and address contemporary issues characterized by moderation. The Department aims at helping the students understand the Islamic instructions well to in enlightening the society with Islamic teachings and uplifting it with essential and correct understanding of Islam and its sublime principles. The department helps in building good attitudes and teachings to confront extremism and exaggeration that brings woes to the nation and endangers its security and economy. The department also aims at protecting the Islamic identity. Based on that the new plan came to include (5) courses in the Arabic language with (10) units and (57) Courses in the field of specialization (116). Thus the plan is comprehensive in many aspects to improve the students’ cognitive and professional performance to help effectively in building the good society.

Mission
Achieving integration among the Sharia courses in a way that achieves moderation in building Islamic personality far from violence and extremism.
Objectives:
- Consolidating the Islamic belief, principles and values by scientific methods and protecting them from delusions to achieve servitude to God alone in a correct manner.
- Providing students with legal knowledge from its original sources.
- Preparing specialists in forensic sciences according to correct understanding.
- Deepening legal scientific research to face the developments of the modern age and its challenges.
- Coping with the development plans by preparing the necessary manpower of the advancement in society in the various fields.
- Taking care of the rules, instructions, and objectives of Islamic law and preserving them in terms of development.
- Empowering the students ’faith in the supremacy of Islamic law and its fulfillment of the human needs with all the facts, that confirm its validity for every time and place.
- Enabling the students to acquire good behavior through educational situations in order to set a good example in the community.
